Background:
Present day food production is not sufficient to meet the food demand for the ever-increasing population. Narrowing the yield gap is the key strategy to meet the increasing food requirements of the future. Precision farming by integrating the smart technologies of information technology age is the best strategy to reduce this gap. To support the precision farming real-time in response to the given weather and soil conditions, ICAR-CTCRI has developed this IoT device called Electronic Crop (e-Crop) Technology Details:
Electronic Crop (e-Crop) simulates crop growth real-time in response to the given weather and soil conditions. This way it calculates the requirements of fertilizers, water, agronomic and cultural practices to be followed to get more yield. The resources as per the calculation of this device may be applied so that the farmer gets more yield at reduced input application. Yield prediction also is done by the device which can be pooled at district/state/national levels after deploying more devices.
